Residents Can Be Placed on 'Do Not Solicit' List
Residents who prefer not to be solicited at their home may file notices of objection at village hall (business office) requesting that salespeople and other solicitors not visit their homes. The "Do Not Solicit List" has been in place in Garden City for at least 25 years. Currently, approximately 1,600 addresses are listed. According to Garden City Police Commissioner Ernest Cipullo, officers have issued several appearance tickets to violators. "So it does work," he said.

Garden City Resident Named College Tennis Team Captain
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team won the Northeast Conference for the second straight year and will play Illinois in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Junior Jonathan Russo of Garden City was named team captain. The Chaminade High School graduate is a two-time NEC player of the week, has solidified the No. 4 singles spot in the Quinnipiac singles lineup, where he went 9-5, went 9-9 in doubles play, including a 5-2 mark at No. 3 doubles, and has gone a combined 25-18 this year.
