Existing golfers, new golfers and those who have never taken up the game but want to will have the opportunity to enjoy a free and full day of golf activities at Play Golf America Day this Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Eisenhower Park Golf Course in East Meadow.

Play Golf America Day is a consumer golf festival featuring free golf clinics, trick shot entertainment, tune-up lessons with 30 PGA professionals from New York and the opportunity to demo the newest technology from a variety of leading manufacturers, including Nike Golf, Callaway, Cobra, Wilson, Ping and MacGregor. It is an event for the entire family to enjoy, as there also will be equipment for kids, too.

"We encourage everyone to come out to Eisenhower Park for a fun and relaxing environment," Charlie Robson, executive director of the Metropolitan Section PGA, said. "We have something for all ages and all skill levels. We encourage men, women and kids to come and enjoy a good time outdoors. We are connecting people to the game by emphasizing fun. Our goal is to get more people to play more golf in Long Island."

Play Golf America Day is an integral grassroots component of the national golf industry campaign called Play Golf America, which is designed to increase golf participation in the US by offering golf programs that appeal to various group segments including men, women, couples, families, business professionals and seniors. Led by the PGA of America, the campaign is supported by the PGA TOUR, LPGA, United States Golf Association (USGA), National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) and Golf 20/20.

East Meadow is one of 12 cities nationwide that will be hosting a Play Golf America Day. Long Island also was selected as one of 10 cities in which there will be an aggressive public relations focus on Play Golf America.

"Long Island is already very enthusiastic about golf," Robson continued. "We want to make sure that everyone knows there are more opportunities to play more golf than ever before. Our PGA professionals are creating unique golf programs that are also very affordable."
