The recreation department has secured a group of tickets to Adelphi University's Friday, May 6, performance of Dance Adelphi. Show time is 1 p.m. Each semester Dance Adelphi puts on a new production featuring their finest college students both as performers and choreographers. This semester's show will prove to be an exciting event to watch. Through the generosity of Adelphi, tickets to this performance are free and available to any senior citizen who resides in Garden City. Tickets are limited. The recreation department will create a list of seniors interested in reserving a ticket for this performance. To reserve, call or visit the recreation office in village hall.

Monday, May 2 - Open House. Enjoy coffee, tea and cookies while socializing with old and new friends. Come and share "how to" tips on all kinds of subjects.
Monday, May 9 - Workshop on Medicare prescription drug plan options. On Jan. 1, 2006, the new Medicare prescription drug plans will begin. To participate, residents must choose a plan offering that best meets their needs. Diana Graham and Betty Bohnert of Family and Children's Association Program (HIICAP) will present information to help residents evaluate the option before they decide how to get prescriptions.
All seniors aged 60 and over who reside in Garden City are invited to attend this free program. All programs take place during senior recreation group meetings on Mondays at 9:30 a.m. at the Garden City Recreation Center on Golf Club Lane. Able-Ride is a special bus service for people with disabilities. Able-Ride provides transportation for people who are unable to use the fixed route bus service for some or all of their trips. Age, distance from a bus or inability to drive are not taken into consideration in making an eligibility determination. You and a licensed health care professional of your choice must complete the Able-Ride application. The application is then evaluated and, if accepted, you will be issued an ID card and given further instructions. One-way fare for this program is $3.50 to obtain an Able-Ride application, call 228-4000.
