The fourth-grade Lady Rams lacrosse team opened their season with a hard-fought win over a tough visiting Wantagh squad. The Lady Rams jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first quarter and held off a strong Wantagh rally in the fourth quarter to gain a 10-7 victory.

Krista Dampman led the Lady Rams with three goals. Other scorers included Haley Shannon with two goals, as well as solo tallies by Marie Cristoforo, Mary Glenn, Carly Knowles, Kelly Kubler and Courtney Stoddart. The goals were set up by strong passing and groundball play of Addie Zebrowski, Jacqueline Jahelka, Lauren Coleman, Louisa Boliver, Mary Jane Kessevich and Kaliegh McGoldrick.

Olivia Zimmer stopped six Wantagh shots on goal and her goal keeping was aided by the strong defensive play of Emily Betts, Meredith Johnson, Catherine McDougal, Anne Pasquale, Samantha Pflume and Carolyn Pasquale. This defensive was particularly important when Wantagh narrowed the Lady Rams lead to 8-7 with five minutes left to play.
