Residents concerned about possibly compromising Garden City's uniqueness asked pressing questions of County Executive Tom Suozzi's HUB proposal during a public hearing April 5. Although he wanted residents to leave the meeting with an open mind, many instead left frustrated, getting few definitive answers from staff and Suozzi himself, who arrived late and left halfway through the meeting.

GC Developer Donates Parking Lot to Sacred Heart Academy
The girls of Sacred Heart Academy adore Garden City developer Wilbur Breslin. On Valentine's Day, they sent him hundreds of cards. The girls have sent cards to Breslin in recent years as part of their attempt to win parking privileges on the empty lot. Now, he has given them something in return: a permanent place to park.

Lady Rams Open Season With a Victory
The fourth-grade Lady Rams lacrosse team opened their season with a hard-fought win over a tough visiting Wantagh squad. The Lady Rams jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first quarter and held off a strong Wantagh rally in the fourth quarter to gain a 10-7 victory.

Rockville Centre Liberty Defeat Garden City 2-0
The Garden City Strikers played their opener away last Saturday against the Rockville Centre Liberty Soccer Club. A sunny brisk day made for excellent conditions to watch an exciting soccer match. The game started with Rockville Centre Liberty trying to dictate a slow paced match. On the other side, the Strikers were looking to use their speed. The contrast made for an interesting game.
