Committee: Add St. Paul's Basement to Plan for Public Use
After touring the St. Paul's Historic Main Building and interviewing more than 20 local organizations, some of which are paying rental fees for offices and storage space, the recently appointed Mayor's Committee - tasked to explore public needs for space that might be accommodated by use of the first floor of the St. Paul's Main Building - revealed several conclusions.

More Dumpsters in Lot 7S Made 'Bad Situation Worse'
To help further the village's beautification efforts, 16 local business owners and managers that use Parking Lot 7S earlier this month forwarded a petition to the board of trustees suggesting that the dumpsters and grease barrels be permanently removed and replaced with a community compactor and grease receptacle.

St. Joe's Basketball Teams Earn Sportsmanship Award
This year at St. Joseph School once again participated in the Nassau County Catholic Middle Level Basketball League. The kids had an opportunity to play against teams from Catholic schools all over Nassau County. At the conclusion of the season, St. Joe's was presented with the first annual Referee's Sportsmanship Award.

Now that the weather is turning warmer, it is time to think about getting back into shape. The recreation department's aerobics classes are just the thing to get your heart pumping and your body moving. Pat Kennedy and Joy Cody, experienced instructors who try to tailor their programs to the ability level of the participants, teach the classes.
