Dr. Walter A. Trenkle of Garden City had a passion for healing. As a young pharmacist's mate treating wounded and dying Marines on the battlefields of Okinawa and Guadalcanal to his successful orthopedic practice in Mineola, he enjoyed helping people. Dr. Trenkle was on-staff at Winthrop-University Hospital for more than 40 years and served as chief of orthopedics for 14 years, until 1987. FULL STORY
