PAVES Closes, After 38 Years of Service to Village
PAVES (Paid and Volunteer Employment Service), a nonprofit corporation which has served the youth and residents of Garden City since 1967, is closing. For those not familiar with the service, PAVES has provided a list, updated in the spring and fall, of high school and college students from the village able to do various tasks for residents who called PAVES' telephone message recorder.

New York Receives 'F' on Megan's Law Report Card
In light of New York State's "F" grading on the National Megan's Law report card, County Legislator Vincent Muscarella recently announced that the Republican delegation introduced legislation aimed at strengthening the Sex Offender Registration Act (SORA), New York's version of Megan's Law.

Now that the weather is turning warmer, it is time to think about getting back into shape. The recreation department's aerobics classes are just the thing to get your heart pumping and your body moving. Pat Kennedy and Joy Cody, experienced instructors who try to tailor their programs to the ability level of the participants, teach the classes.
