Ruggiero Challenges Episcopia for East Trusteeship
Frank Ruggiero has challenged the Eastern Property Owners' Association (EPOA) Nominating Committee's unanimous decision to bring forth Nick Episcopia as candidate for village trustee. Jon Segerdahl, current village trustee representing the East, did not challenge the nomination. A run-off election will take place Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Stewart School between the hours of 4:30 and 9 p.m. Picture ID is required. The winner of this election will become the Community Agreement Party's candidate in the village's general election this March.
Lamberti Challenges Mayor for Central Trusteeship
Thomas Lamberti wants to put an end to "surprise, confrontation and steamroller tactics." He also wants to ensure the viability of Garden City's participatory democracy. The First Street resident is challenging the Central Property Owners' Association (CPOA) Nominating Committee's unanimous decision to bring forth current village mayor Barbara Miller as candidate for trustee in the upcoming village election. A run-off election will be held Tuesday, Feb. 1 at Garden City High School, located on Merillon and Rockaway Avenues, between the hours of 4:30 and 9 p.m. Picture ID is required. Whoever proves victorious Feb. 1 becomes the Community Agreement Party's candidate for the village's March election.
Recreation Department News
The Garden City Recreation Department is excited to announce the first in a series of special trips for the village's senior population. The first trip will be to the Philadelphia Flower Show Wednesday, March 9. The theme of this year's show is "America the beautiful." Enjoy the displays of great gardens and landscapes, as well as thousands of beautiful plants and floral designs. This trip is open to any senior aged 60 or older who resides in Garden City. The price of the trip will be $60. Space is very limited, so if interested, visit the recreation office at village hall to reserve a spot. Payment must accompany registration. GC Runners, Walkers Invited to Participate in 15K Run
Runners and walkers of all ages and levels of ability from Garden City and surrounding Island's toughest communities are invited to head east to test their training and endurance levels in the eightth annual Lazer, Aptheker, Rosella & Yedid Kings Park 15K Run, Long running event.
