Board Unanimously Approves St. Paul's Resolution
Criticizing the lack of discussion regarding St. Paul's, on the part of the Garden City board of trustees, Jon Schwieger, Estates POA past president, and Robert Nouryan, Central POA director, questioned why the topic wasn't an agenda item at the Oct. 21 board meeting. "This is something that ought to be addressed at every meeting," Nouryan said.

Resident Suggests Renaming Commercial Avenue
To better identify the fact that Camp Mills was established in Garden City back in 1917, Bill Bellmer of Poplar Street thought it appropriate to rename Commercial Avenue "Camp Mills Avenue." Camp Mills once occupied a part of the village south of the Long Island Rail Road and east of Clinton Road - the reason why the memorial to the Rainbow Division, deployed from that camp, rests in Rainbow Park, located at the corner of Clinton Road and St. James Street South.

Strikers Knock Out the Strikers?
Ironically, what would be the chances of two teams carrying the same team name? This past Saturday the Garden City Strikers challenged the Plainedge Strikers at home at St. Paul's. The Garden City Strikers knocked out the Plainedge Strikers with teamwork, experience, hard work and determination.

Recreation Department News
The recreation department's adult swim sessions at Adelphi began Monday, Oct. 25, at Adelphi's indoor pool, located at Woodruff Hall. This free program is open to any adult, 18 years or older, who residents in Garden City. The pool is open for use Mondays through Thursdays in two sessions: 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.
