Senator Michael Balboni has secured $625,000 in grants for health and human services programs that benefit the community.
"These local organizations provide vital services to the people of our community and are worthy of support," Balboni said, noting that many of the organizations serve individuals throughout Nassau County. "I'm glad I'm able to help them continue their important work."
Beneficiaries of the grant dollars include: Association for the Help of Retarded Children, Brookville; Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, Garden City; Diabetes Research Institute, Greenvale; Family and Children's Association, Mineola; Foundation for the Advancement of Autistic Persons, Plainview; Gift of Life International, Inc., Great Neck; Interfaith Nutrition Network, Hempstead; Leisure Club of Mineola; Littig House, Port Washington; Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation, Port Washington; Long Island Head Injury Association, Commack; Mineola AARP (American Association of Retired Persons); Mineola Golden Age Club; North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, Manhasset; Parent Resource Center, Port Washington; Parker Jewish Institute, New Hyde Park; Port Washington Children's Center; Port Washington Senior Center; Rotacare, Uniondale; The Sass Foundation for Medical Research, Roslyn; Senior Citizens of Westbury; Tuesday's Children, Manhasset; Winthrop University Hospital, Mineola; and Working Organization for Retarded Children, Lake Success.
In his years in the state Senate, Balboni has brought home hundreds of thousands of dollars to support health and human services organizations that serve the communities he represents.
Balboni's district encompasses the entire Town of North Hempstead and includes the communities of Elmont, Floral Park, South Floral Park, Stewart Manor, Bellerose, Franklin Square and part of Hicksville.
