The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), along with the New York Post, is re-creating the old Miss Subways contest, once a fixture of the NY Transit Authority (NYTA) from the 1940s to early 1970s. Posters of the Miss Subways ran for four months on each subway train.

The new Miss Subways contest had its four finalists selected from a huge number of entries that were recently submitted. One of the finalists is Kerry Kent Smith, a Garden City High School and University of Delaware graduate. She is employed as a senior account executive in the financial services field and currently resides in Manhattan.
Kerry is the daughter of Eileen Kent and Cyril Smith. Eileen was also a Miss Subways during the original contest.
