Officer Madden, Detective Braun Earn Police Service Award
Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray honored members from the Nassau County Police Department and various village police departments during its seventh annual Police Service Awards ceremony Sept. 21. Members, including Garden City Police Officer Kevin Madden and Garden City Police Detective Steven Braun, were recognized for community service, bravery and heroism in solving crimes and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

GC Checkmate Sharks Will Hold Tryouts October 16
The Garden City Checkmate Sharks will be holding open tryouts Saturday, Oct. 16, from 3-6 p.m. at The Waldorf School (rain date Oct. 17 from 4-6:30 p.m.). Tryouts are open to all former Shark players as well as any sixth grade student currently attending school in Garden City.
