Stewart Manor's Heroes of Yesterday and Today
Appropriately held on Sept. 11, the Village of Stewart Manor rededicated a memorial to two local heroes that died exactly 50 years apart to the day: Marine Lieutenant Thomas McVeigh, killed in action in Korea at "Bloody Ridge" Sept. 11, 1951, and David Leistman, killed in the North Tower of the World Trade Center Sept. 11, 2001.

Strikers Succumb in Season Opener
On Saturday it was showdown time for the battle of Garden City girls soccer teams: the Strikers versus the Golden Eagles. Both teams fought hard and to their best ability to stop the other one from scoring and moving the ball. Only one goal decided the match and the Golden Eagles came out as victors.

The Garden City Thunderbolts, a newly formed U10 boys' soccer team, began their premiere season by participating in the East Meadow Ref-Fuel Tournament, which consisted of a five game round robin format.
