Unlined Water Main Possible Cause of Discoloration
A Laurel Street resident who's lived in Garden City for less than a year approached the village board earlier this month with a bottle of discolored water. She explained to trustees that the "dirty" water she held before them came from her kitchen sink.

GC South Residents Combating Rats
Maria Selvaggio's children can no longer play ball outside because the Garden City South resident said rats have infested her neighborhood, including her own backyard. The source, she claims, is Garden City's municipal yard on Cherry Valley Avenue. "I even have rats in my barbecue," she told trustees during a recent meeting.

Yoga at the GC Library
The Young Adult Department of the Garden City Public Library is conducting a Life Balance Yoga workshop for Garden City young adults in grades 6-12 Saturday, Sept. 11. The first session is scheduled from 2 - 3 p.m. and the second session from 3:15 - 4:15 p.m. Sign-up for one session only.

The Garden City Pool will be sponsoring a Senior Citizen's Day Monday, Aug. 30. All senior citizens who reside in the village are invited to enjoy the morning at the Garden City Pool. The pool will open at 11 a.m. for seniors only and admission to the pool will be free. Proof of residency will be required.
