Manor Fruit Shack Employee Air Lifted After Serious Accident
According to the Stewart Manor Fire Department, at 3:22 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, the department responded to a report of a major trauma on Covert Avenue. Responding from Fire Headquarters, Chief Daniel O'Keefe was on scene in less than one minute, where he found a male who had suffered an amputation injury to his hand. The department ambulance was on the scene within two minutes of Chief O'Keefe, who, along with the crew of Stewart Manor ambulance 194, stabilized the patient through advanced life support intervention.

Senate Passes Anti-Terrorism Legislation
The New York State Senate passed legislation agreed upon by the governor, attorney general and both houses of the state legislature that would give New York the toughest, most comprehensive anti-terrorism laws in the nation.

GCAA News
Starting July 15 and continuing through Aug. 26, the GCAA will be sponsoring intramural baseball games for those who are entering the eighth grade this fall. All games will be played at Community Park Field #4 and will run from 7-9 p.m. The program is being offered at no cost to the participants but a parental consent form must be completed in order to play. Forms can be obtained at the village recreation office or at the field.

All Garden City senior citizens are invited to enjoy the morning at the Garden City Pool Monday, Aug. 16. The pool will open at 11 a.m. for seniors only and admission to the pool will be free. Proof of residency will be required. The Paul Cuneo Trio will perform in the picnic area beginning at 11 a.m. In addition, the snack bar will discount prices 50 percent between 11 a.m. and noon for all seniors in attendance.
