Long Island's newest sports team has been making headlines and winning fans since their season began two years ago. Playing at the brand new EAB Park in Central Islip, Ducks' games have been drawing an average of over 5,700 fans for each game. The five playgrounds will be taking a trip to see the Ducks play on Monday, Aug. 2. Buses will depart from each of the five playgrounds at 5 p.m. and will return to the pool at the end of the game. The cost of the trip will be $10 per person, which includes a ticket to the game and transportation to and from the stadium. Recreation Department personnel will provide supervision for the trip. There are a limited number of tickets available for this game. Please register at the playground nearest to your home for this trip.
If you have recently had a tree planted in front of your home, please take the time to water it. The proper way to water is to first loosen the soil around the tree if it has become baked hard and then allow a hose to run at the base of the tree at a rate slow enough so that the water will be absorbed into the area around the tree trunk.
Watering hours are from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Odd-numbered addresses on odd-numbered days and even-numbered addresses on even-numbered days.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Compliments are due to the recreation department for arranging this season's outstanding Concert Series at the Village Gazebo, located on the Village Green at the corner of Stewart and Hilton Avenues. This week's program is scheduled for Thursday, July 22, and will feature The Chiclettes singing classic "girl group hits" as well as contemporary favorites.
