It is with deep regret that Belmont Metals Inc. announces the passing of its recent past president, Mr. Robert V. Henning, Sr., on May 1 at the age of 87. Mr. Henning had just celebrated his 65th year of service at Belmont, almost 30 years of those as president.

Mr. Henning was born in Brooklyn, raised his family in Garden City and lived in Glen Cove at the time of his death. He was a graduate of Lehigh University and did post-graduate work in metallurgy at Columbia University.

Mr. Henning leaves a strong legacy to this family owned and operated non-ferrous metals business. His father founded the company in 1896 and his son, Richard, succeeded him as president this past fall, though Mr. Henning remained active until recently. He will be remembered for his incredible work ethic, dedication to the family tradition and ethical values.
