(Editor's Note: The St. Paul's Survey Committee wrote the following letter of thanks to Dr. Robert Scott, president of Adelphi University. It is printed below at the committee's request.)
Dear Dr. Scott
Three months ago, when members of our committee approached you for assistance on an opinion poll of the village regarding St. Paul's, we had no idea what we would be facing. You were most generous and kind to offer us the support of Dean Lou Primavera and Dr. Nava Lerer.
You know by now that what evolved into the St. Paul's survey is now complete, and the results are out. Actually, the 12 residents who were designated by their respective Property Owners' Associations to form the St. Paul's Survey Committee worked very hard to design and implement the survey. But the continuous and unselfish guidance of Lou and Nava, taking time to attend each of our half-dozen or more late meetings, made the process much more meaningful and unbiased, and shortened the implementation period to just a few weeks.
After the responses came back, they with their staffs, and with the assistance of Dr. Raymond Hicks, undertook to count and review them, to keep the process within the time limitations that we had imposed, and to present us with a final, comprehensive and accurate report of the indicated preferences of a large cross section of Garden City residents.
We could not be more pleased or grateful. We sincerely appreciate the wonderful community spirit that you and your associates exhibited in helping us and in keeping us focused. Our committee will disband but each of us will remember the generosity and contribution of our Adelphi neighbors.
Many thanks,
The St. Paul's Survey Committee
