A sure sign that summer is on its way is that the village's 2004 pool application has been mailed to residents. If anyone has not received an application, please call the Pool Office at 465-4074.

Completed applications may be mailed in the enclosed envelope, to the Pool at 52 Cherry Valley Avenue, Garden City, New York 11530. Residents returning their applications by June 1 will receive two complimentary guest passes. The village encourages those residents who have not taken a membership in the past to consider one this year in order to take advantage of this great recreational resource.

I encourage residents to take a membership this year, especially those who have not done so in the past. The pool complex is a wonderful recreational resource. It is a great place to renew friendships and establish new ones, read a book and swim in the adult pool as well as watch the children have a great time swimming and playing on the equipment and of course we all enjoy the snack bar. The health benefits are numerous as long as you use your "sun block" and not stay in the direct sun too long.

Village offices will be closed Monday, May 31, in observance of Memorial Day and will reopen Tuesday, June 1 at 8:30 a.m. For your convenience, correspondence for the village may be placed in the "letter" drop slot at the front door.

Residents are reminded that there will be no garbage or recycling pickup Monday, May 31. Those scheduled for recycling are asked to put their recyclables out on Monday, June 7.
