'P' Zone Proposal Tweaked Again
After further tweaking, planner Frank Fish presented the latest Public Use "P" District proposal, which entails deleting the "P" District entirely and adding the CO-5 and R-T Districts, amending the CO-4 District and defining open space and townhouse, during a May 20 public hearing at the Garden City Middle School. Mayor Barbara Miller said the board expects to vote on the issue at the June 3 board meeting.

Residents Fed Up -Want Traffic Light Installed
Back in November 2001, residents collectively urged village trustees to recommend that the Village Traffic Commission probe the Franklin Avenue/Fourth Street intersection, particularly in light of a car accident that claimed the life of a 10-year-old fifth-grader at St. Joseph's. With more than 900 students participating in the religious education program and after-school activities at St. Joseph's School, residents felt the area bore further scrutiny.

GC Strikers Best Tornados, Freedom
The Garden City Strikers (U10) have been busy over the past two weeks picking up six points in the standings of Division II play with wins over the Hicksville Tornados May 8 and the Garden City Freedom May 15. On May 8 the Strikers came from behind to beat a determined Hicksville Tornados team 3-2.
