Echo Wins Award
Garden City High School's Echo was named the best overall high school newspaper in New York State at the New York State Press Association Conference in Saratoga Springs. With the encouragement and support of high school Principal John Okulski, two of the newspaper's editors, Katie Roth and Madeline VenJohn, accompanied their advisor, Nancy Slater to the conference and awards ceremony held April 2 and 3 at the historic Gideon Putnam Hotel.

GC Firefighters Battle Trailer Fire
Garden City firefighters responded to a trailer fire at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Seventh Street last Wednesday afternoon. Upon arrival, they found a fully involved fire in the rear (container portion) of a box truck being utilized for pavement lining. According to reports, the front portion of the attached trailer was also found burning.

One of the Garden City Recreation Department's most popular programs continues to be Supershapes, an aerobics exercise program. At Supershapes classes, residents will get all the benefits of a great workout in a fun-filled atmosphere. Instructors know that with all of the commitments residents have in their daily lives, an exercise program has to be fun.
