The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection Bantams basketball team won the championship of the Long Island Lutheran basketball league recently, defeating Trinity Hicksville Red, 43-42, in the title game.

The two teams met twice during the regular season, with each squad winning once. In the decisive championship game, Resurrection held off Trinity in an intense, well-played game.

Members of the Bantams basketball team include David Eliassen, Chris Rudkin, Peter Licitra, Peter Cohn, John McDonald, Joe Seagraves, Denis Rice, Peter Balling and John Weitzel. Larry Rice coached the Bantams while Wayne Balling served as assistant coach.
