The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to offer a mini tennis program for juniors ages 6-18 during spring recess. The program will run Monday, April 5 through Thursday, April 8 at the Garden City Community Park tennis facility. This program is for Garden City residents only. Dates, times and fees are as follows:

Session I Novice 7-8 9-11 a.m. $75
Session II PeeWee 5-6 11-12 p.m. $75
Session III Junior/Senior 9-11 12-2 p.m. $75
Session IV Team &Ladder Players 10+ 2-4 p.m. $75
Program times may be altered to registration response. Age and abilities will determine court grouping. For information or to register, visit the recreation office in village hall.

Now that the weather is turning warmer, it is time to think about getting back into shape. The recreation department's aerobics classes are just the thing to get your heart pumping and your body moving. Pat Kennedy and Joy Cody, experienced instructors who try to tailor their programs to the ability level of participants, teach the classes.

The easy way to participate in the aerobics classes is to purchase a "20 Class Pass." By purchasing this pass, participants can attend any class that fits their schedule. The cost of a pass is $60. Passes may be purchased at Cluett Hall or in the recreation office in village hall. If you'd like to try a class or two before purchasing a pass, daily admission to a class is $4.

Classes are held in Cluett Hall at the St. Paul's complex according to the following schedule:

Sunday 6:45 p.m.
Monday 9:00 a.m.
Wednesday 8:30 a.m.
Thursday 7:15 p.m.
Friday 8:30 a.m.

The recreation department is now accepting team application packages for its upcoming spring businessmen's softball league. Packages can be obtained from the recreation department in village hall. Rosters will be accepted from the first 16 teams meeting the following eligibility requirements:

* Business located within the village

* Teams comprised of residents of Garden City

* Teams comprised of employees of Garden City

The fee for this league will be $500, which covers the cost of umpires, fields, balls and trophies. Application packages will be accepted until 4 p.m. Thursday, April 1, or until 16 valid packages are accepted. The season is slated to begin the week of April 12. Adelphi's pool in Woodruff Hall is again available for adult residents of Garden City who would like to swim for exercise. The days and times are as follows: Monday through Thursday from either 8:30-9:30 p.m. or 9:30-10:30 p.m. This program is free but time must be reserved by calling the recreation office at 465-4075 on the day you would like to swim. For information, call the recreation department at 465-4075.
