Compliments are extended to the Garden City Middle School on being named by the New York State Education Department, one of 28 middle schools statewide as a mentor school. Schools Today announced in its March 1 edition that in an effort to address the challenges of improving middle schools, the State Education Department has created a resource called the "Statewide Network of Middle-Level Education Support Schools." The 28 New York middle schools are being showcased for their promising educational practices. Residents are reminded that the annual organizational meeting of the board of trustees will be held Thursday, April 8 at 8 p.m. in village hall.

With spring just around the corner, plans are already under way for various events that are scheduled in Garden City. These events are designed for the entire family so be sure to mark your calendar. Some of these activities include:
