Staff made an excellent presentation to the leadership of the POAs, Chamber of Commerce and other interested residents Saturday, Feb. 28. Excellent questions were asked by those in attendance and addressed by Administrator Schoelle and his executive staff. The board of trustees continued to refine the budget Thursday, March 4 prior to the board meeting.
Long Island Blood Services, in conjunction with the employees at village hall, will be holding a blood drive Tuesday, March 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the second floor meeting room of the fire department headquarters building on Stewart Avenue. The need for blood has again reached a critical level so please consider donating.

The Town of Hempstead Sanitation Department will conduct its first monthly S.T.O.P. (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) program Sunday, March 21. The program, which is being held at various locations throughout the Town of Hempstead, will make hazardous waste facilities accessible to as many residents as possible.
The March 21 program will be held at Eisenhower Park, Field 3, Hempstead Turnpike and Merrick Avenue in East Meadow. The hours of operation will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Under the S.T.O.P. program, residents are able to take polluting materials to the facility and have them disposed of by a registered professional disposal company, free of charge. The facility will not accept the following materials: ammunition, explosives, fireworks, infectious or medical waste, propane or oxygen tanks, radioactive materials, unlabeled materials and fire extinguishers.
