Board Makes No Decision on 'P' Zone Issue
Village trustees did not make a decision on the Public Use "P" Zone issue as expected during the March 4 board meeting, citing that the board is seeking opinion of Village Counsel Gary Fishberg and planner Frank Fish, who won't be available for another week. "The board, before going forth, certainly wants to sit down and have some discussions based on the public's input," Mayor Barbara Miller said after more than a year has passed since County Executive Suozzi first introduced his consolidation plan.

Russell Matthews: Invest in Parking Field 9E Now
Russell Matthews of the Albanese Organization, disappointed to learn that the village's capital budget does not include improvements to Parking Field 9E, respectfully requested that the board make improvements to the lot now rather than next year. He addressed trustees during the March 4 board meeting.

Pigskin Powers Meet in 'Cereal Bowl I'
Supervisor Kate Murray kicked off the Town of Hempstead's "Cereal Bowl I" when she huddled with the Garden City Trojans and Freeport Red Devils Feb. 24 in the courtroom at Old Town Hall. Players, coaches and school officials joined the supervisor and town board members to celebrate the two teams' 2003 Long Island championships.
