The Garden City Athletic Club (GCAC) would like to begin sponsoring intramural indoor and outdoor volleyball leagues for children and adults beginning this spring. Co-ed teams and mixed children/adult teams are welcome. The GCAC is planning for Garden City intramural team competition in the St. Paul's field house and at Community Park from April to October (two split seasons).
The GCAC would like to begin sponsoring intramural indoor soccer leagues beginning this spring. Adults interested in coaching Garden City youth intramural teams between the ages of 5-18 are asked to contact Tony Colantonio at 248-8525 or via e-mail at GCAC@aol.com. The GCAC is planning for Garden City intramural soccer team competition in the St. Paul's field house from April to June. If this pilot program is successful, the GCAC will continue the program in the winter 2004/2005.
The GCAC would like to begin sponsoring indoor and outdoor exercise programs for adults beginning this spring. The GCAC is planning for programs to be held in the St. Paul's field house, St. Paul's fields and at Community Park year round. Programs will include jogging, bicycling, aerobics, kickboxing and cardio cross-training by experienced and certified instructors.
The GCAC will be sponsoring indoor baseball and softball clinics on the following Sundays: Feb. 8 and 15. The Village of Garden City has limited the GCAC's time to 30-minute sessions on these dates (from 6:30 to 7 p.m.). The GCAC asks for everyone's cooperation in arriving early enough to be warmed up and ready to begin instructions promptly at 6:30 p.m. The sessions are free.
The GCAC will be sponsoring Cal Ripken Baseball Little League teams and softball teams beginning this spring. Adults interested in coaching Garden City youth intramural teams between the ages of 5-18 and travel/tournament teams between the ages of 8-18 are asked to contact Tony Colantonio at 248-8525 or via e-mail at GCAC@aol.com. Garden City baseball and softball intramural teams will play in Garden City and have an opportunity to play in the World Series, travel teams will play throughout Long Island and tournament teams will play at the Cal Ripken Baseball Academy in Maryland.

The GCAC is now accepting registrations for its spring roller hockey season. All intramural games will be played at Garden City Community Park roller hockey rinks. Travel games will be played away and at home pending the Village of Garden City's approval.
All GCAC programs are open to all Garden City residents; non-Garden City residents, and their families, attending any school in Garden City; and non-Garden City residents residing within the confines of the Garden City School District. Applications are available in the recreation department at village hall, in Cluett Hall at the St. Paul's field house or via e-mail request at GCACNY@aol.com. The GCAC, in cooperation with the Jump Start Foundation, will be sponsoring a Bowl-a-thon at Garden City Bowl to benefit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Mercy Medical Center, on Sunday, March 7. Students interested in helping to organize the fundraiser are asked to e-mail jumpstartonlife@aol.com.
