John P. Mullins, of Floral Park, died on Oct. 17, 2003. He was a graduate of Regis High School, Queens College and has a master's degree from Columbia University. Son of the late Mary and Frank. Brother of Ann Joyce (John F.) and the late Donald. Uncle of Timothy, Eileen and Christine Joyce. Great-uncle of Anthony, Michael, Timothy and Jillian Joyce. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, New Hyde Park. Funeral Mass at St. Anne's RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.

Alfred Boyce Taylor, of Garden City, died on Oct. 23, 2003 in Mercy Hospital with his wife of 58 years, Jean Peterson Taylor, at his side. He had been in very poor health after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Recife, Brazil, on Nov. 4, 1920 to Southern Baptist missionary parents, William Carey Taylor and Grace Sisco Taylor. Al Taylor had lived in Garden City for 47 years after moving there from Schnectady, where he worked for General Electric. A graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, he retired in 1995 after more than 50 years as an electrical engineer, the last 30 with Armor Elevator Company.

He leaves his wife, Jean; and their three children, Peter Lee Taylor of Del Mar, CA, Deborah Jean Taylor of Roslyn, and Julie Ann Taylor of Cambridge, MA. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Jennifer Taylor of New York and Christina Taylor Dietrich of Madison, WI; and by his sister, Jean Taylor Nelson of Tonganoxie, KS. His other two sisters, Clara Taylor Wilson of Greenville, SC, and Betty Taylor Howard of Walkertown, NC, predeceased him.

The funeral was held Oct. 26 at the Fairchild Chapel in Garden City with cremation private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to: ACLD Circle of Commitment for Roslyn House, 807 South Oyster Bay Rd., Bethpage, NY 11714.

Ellen Burke, formerly of Garden City, died on Oct. 24, 2003. She was retired from Federal Reserve. Daughter of Harriet Burke. Mother of Ilona and Lilo Zsolnay. Service at St. Luke's Church, Forest Hills. Emil D. Rau, of Floral Park, formerly of Stewart Manor, died on Oct. 25, 2003. Son of Antoinette. Father of Alexander and Emily. Brother of Tina Byrne, Herbert and Robert. He was formerly married to Kathy. Arrangements were made by the Krauss Funeral Home, Franklin Square. Religious service at St. James Lutheran Community Church. Contributions can be made to St. James Lutheran Community Church, 116 Elton Rd., Stewart Manor, NY 11530. Lucille Countryman, of Garden City, died on Oct. 27, 2003. Mother of John R. and Carol A. Countryman. Mother-in-law of Illona. Grandmother of Vanessa. Aunt of two nieces and two nephews. Arrangements were made by the Fairchild Chapel, Garden City. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
