The recreation department's Dance Ensemble is a great way for young dancers to receive excellent training at a very reasonable price. Children ages 12 and up who are interested in learning dance at a higher level need only call Felicia Lovaglio at 741-2906 to find out more about this program. A $100 fee will be collected at the time of registration. The recreation department is sponsoring open soccer time for village residents who are high school graduates or older. The program, which began Saturday, Sept. 20, will be open each Saturday on St. Paul's Field #2C from 9 to 11 a.m., weather permitting. Games will be strictly pick up and shin guards should be worn. For further information, call the recreation department at 465-4075. There are limited openings available in the recreation department's Dance Conservatory Program. This program contains ballet, tap and jazz classes for all level dancers. Garden City residents ages 4 through adult are encouraged to visit the recreation department to see what classes are available. For more information, call 465-4075.

The recreation department's creative movement classes are geared to the 3.5 to 5-year-old. Creative Movement stimulates the imagination through the use of simple coordinated moves that are easy to follow. Classes stress physical awareness, rhythm, listening skills and skill development by muscle groups.

Children in this age group who are residents of Garden City are encouraged to attend this exciting class. Mary Searson, the teacher of these classes, has extensive knowledge of this age group and has created a program suitable for everyone's abilities.

Creative Movement is offered during the following days and times:

Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Tuesday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Looking for a great way to exercise while dancing? Join the recreation department's adult jazz class. This one-hour class is being offered on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. starting Oct. 7. The cost of this 13-week program is $104. Please visit the recreation office in village hall. The recreation department has opened two Saturday Pee-Wee tennis classes for the four to five-year-old village resident. The classes will be held for 50 minutes and will be available at either 12:30 or 1:30 p.m. Each of these classes will run for 10 weeks at a cost of $125. Classes begin Oct. 4. Please visit the recreation office to register for the class. The recreation department's first session of tennis lessons for children aged 5 to 18 began this week. There are still openings available in ability levels. To register for any class, visit the recreation department in Cluett Hall.
