Cathedral Nursery School Slated to Open at Cottages September 9
Last August, village trustees voted in favor of entering into an agreement with Cathedral Nursery School to temporarily lease the cottages on the St. Paul's property. With not much said since then, residents who attended the Aug. 21 board meeting discovered that the nursery school is slated to open at the cottages Sept. 9 for the academic year.

A Somber Day in Garden City
A memorial monument paying tribute to the more than 20 Garden City residents who perished in the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center terrorist attacks will be unveiled this Sept. 11, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Village Green. The dedication ceremony will include words from Mayor Barbara Miller and various church leaders, the Garden City High School choral group and the Garden City Police Department/Garden City Fire Department Color Guard.

Recreation Department News
The recreation department's Dance Ensemble will hold tryouts for this upcoming year on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 12 p.m. in Cluett Hall. The Dance Ensemble is open to serious dancers aged 12 and up who are residents of the village. All dancers should bring ballet shoes as well as jazz shoes to the tryouts. For a nominal registration fee, a student chosen for the Ensemble can enjoy hours of professional dance instruction culminating in a recital performance in late spring.

Sign Up Now to Feel Fit
Fitness for the Young at Heart is taught by Evelyn Lang and is held at the firehouse at Stewart and Edgemere. For those starting or returning to exercise. You have a choice of sessions on Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. starting the week of Sept. 8. The cost is $40 for 10 sessions. There is a $10 discount for seniors 65 or over. There is a $5 fee for non-residents.
