Jerry Unger Elected New Chamber President
On July 1, the Garden City Chamber of Commerce board of directors elected Jerry Unger, owner of Printing X-Press, to serve a two-year term as president. He has served two separate terms as a director and has held positions as secretary/treasurer, vice president and executive vice president.

Road Transfers Possible for Garden City
With last month's resurfacing of Stewart Avenue from Tanners Pond Road to Cherry Valley Avenue, Garden City resident Bill Bellmer questioned whether the county has approached the village regarding road transfers. Village Administrator Robert Schoelle Jr. said although Garden City has not been notified to make such an exchange, he suspects the village will be speaking to county officials shortly.

Garden City's Katie Di Camillo Scores in 20th Annual Vytra Women's Run
Four hundred and thirty-four finishers (an 8 percent increase over 2002), including virtually every single top woman runner from all of Long Island and representing every local running club, enjoyed amazing giveaways, perfect weather and an outstanding finish on the track at Farmingdale High School, at the 20th annual Vytra Health Plans Long Island Women's 5 Kilometer Run.

Local Girls Play in National Tournament of Champions
Shannon Mangini and Samantha Trapasso, both fifth graders at Stratford School played in the 2003 PONY National Tournament of Champions, held in Sterling Virginia, July 20 through July 26.
