Garden City Fire Department Supports Troops
The Garden City Fire Department participated in Stewart Manor's annual Fourth of July parade. Unlike years past, this year's theme was a salute to the men and women currently fighting overseas. "With so many men and women unable to be home this Independence Day and enjoy the freedom they are fighting for, we only thought it was right to pay tribute to them," Garden City Fire Department Chief Thomas Foley said.

MIRACLE Club Raises $27,500 In Fight Against Cancer
The MIRACLE Club of Garden City High School recently hosted its second annual Miracle Miles walkathon at the high school. More than 100 students and parents participated in the Miracle Miles Walk and raised $27,500 for the MIRACLE Foundation.

Recreation Department News
The recreation department's chess club began Tuesday, July 14 in the small meeting room of the Garden City Library. This club will meet from 4-6 p.m. every Tuesday until the library closes for renovations in late August. The chess club is a free program open to village residents who are going into grades 3-7.
