Some 48 students from Garden City and Manhasset High Schools recently participated in the 7th Annual Long Island Gold Coast Triathlon and Relay June 14. The event raised money for Tuesday's Children, a Long Island-based non-profit service organization that has made an 18-year commitment to every child who lost a parent on September 11, 2001. The more than $5,000 raised is earmarked for Tuesday's Children's Giant Steps program, which helps the September 11, 2001 teenage population - universally recognized as the most difficult to reach and most "at risk." Manhasset High School Senior and Tuesday's Children Volunteer Cassie Mishrick lead the pledge campaign to benefit Tuesday's Children.
Kevin Byrne (orange belt, one stripe), Amanda Ferraro (orange belt), Nicole Matteini (orange belt, one stripe), Haley O'Hanlon (orange belt) and Louis Stober (orange belt, one stripe) were among Charles Water Karate & Fitness students to recently receive belt promotions.
