Evelyn E. Fragale, a resident of Garden City since 1953, passed away on June 29, 2003. She was born Aug. 24, 1926 as Evelyn Sluzas-Susavage in Mahanoy City, PA. The youngest of seven children, her parents were first generation immigrants from Lithuania. She attended school in her hometown of Mahanoy City and upon graduation pursued a degree from the McAnn School of Business. In the spring of 1949 she married Thomas Fragale of Brooklyn, a then executive in the family garment business in Manhattan. The couple soon moved to Garden City and at the same time, Thomas changed career paths and started a home construction company.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Thomas Eugene Fragale; son, Mark Joseph Richard Fragale; daughter, Susan Elizabeth Fragale-Watson; grandchildren, Matthew Mark Fragale and Wendy Anna Fragale; sisters, Anna Gothie and Margaret Casserly; and countless nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held at St. Joseph's RC Church.
