Penelope (Penny) M. Caruso, a longtime resident of Garden City, died on May 8, 2003. She taught in Garden City for 29 years and was featured in Who's Who Among America's Teachers in 1990. She was a Garden City Teachers Association Union representative, the GCTA liaison to the board of education and head teacher at the Locust School. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi Educational Honor Society, the American Association of University Women and the Early Childhood Education Council. Wife of Emileo T. Mother of Laura Caruso, Margaret Murphy and Debra Lazzaro. Mother-in-law of Joe Burleson and Pat Lazzaro. Grandmother of Kira Burleson. Sister of Helen Lorenz. Arrangements were made by the Fairchild Chapel, Garden City. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Mary H. Walsh, of Garden City, died on May 12, 2003. Wife of the late Leo W. Mother of Joanne and Jim DeNicola, Patricia and Tom Kelliher, Beverly and the late William Coffey and the late Sonny and William. Grandmother and great-grandmother. Sister of Helen Larkin and Peg Hackett. Aunt of many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Fairchild Chapel, Garden City. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
