With several options on the table as to what to do with St. Paul's, Garden City resident Bob Davis, who was personally involved with the Committee on St. Paul's when the assisted living option arose, asked the new mayor and board during the May 1 meeting, "What is the basis upon which a final decision will be made regarding St. Paul's? Do trustees collectively and individually know what the residents want? Do the residents know what they want?"
"The facts need to be determined by competent professionals, presented to you all and subsequently presented to village residents so that collectively, a decision can be made," Davis, a Third Street resident, said. "I would hope that that's the process you're going to follow. I would hope that a decision, whatever it may be, would be reached as soon as possible ... Whatever the village wants to do, I'm for but I want to see a process completed as soon as possible."
Mayor Barbara Miller told Davis that she and the board are just as anxious as he is to get this matter resolved. "We intend to follow the same process you mentioned," she said.
Trustee John Mauk, chairman of the board's St. Paul's Committee, said the committee received a report from the consultants and is in the process of evaluating it. "The committee expects to make a report to trustees shortly," he said.
