The New York State Senate joined the Assembly on Tuesday, April 29 in overriding the governor's veto of A.8023/S. 4286, changing the date of the annual school district budget vote and school board elections from May 20 to June 3.
Please note the following changes:
Tuesday, May 27
voter registration 4 to 10 p.m. high school cafeteria
Tuesday, June 3
2003-2004 budget vote 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. high school
Residents of the Garden City Union Free School District may vote if they meet the following legal qualifications:
1. A citizen of the United States
2. Eighteen years of age or older by June 3, 2003
3. A resident within the school district for a period of 30 days preceding the vote.
4. Able to be registered in the district
If you have not voted in a local, state or national election in the last four years, you must register. Registration is Tuesday, May 27, 2003.
Applications for absentee ballots are available to qualified, registered voters from the district clerk, located in room 1 at the administration building, 56 Cathedral Avenue, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The ballot must be received no later than 5 p.m. on the date of the election (June 3). The district clerk will send ballots to those residents certified as "permanently disabled" by the board of elections. If there are any further questions, please call the district clerk at 294-3010.
