The New York State Senate joined the Assembly on Tuesday, April 29 in overriding the governor's veto of A.8023/S. 4286, changing the date of the annual school district budget vote and school board elections from May 20 to June 3.

9/11 Memorial Monument Work Begins at Village Green
According to Village Administrator Bob Schoelle, work was slated to begin this past Monday on the village's September 11, 2001 monument, to be located at the northwest corner of the Village Green, facing Hilton Avenue.

Recreation Department News
The recreation department began accepting roster packages for the upcoming men's over 35 softball league April 28. This league plays on Sunday evenings. Rosters will be accepted from teams meeting the following eligibility requirements: teams must be comprised of Garden City residents and all players must be over 35 years old or turning 35 years old during the course of the session.
