The recreation department's annual Easter egg hunt for pre-K to fifth graders who are residents of Garden City will take place on Saturday, April 19 at Garden City Community Park. Please note the location has been changed due to the ongoing renovations of the St. Paul's grounds. The egg hunt will begin promptly at 10 a.m. There will be three hunts for the following age groups: pre-K and kindergarten, first and second grades and third through fifth grades. The children will be searching for all kinds of treats as well as the special "number eggs," which win special prizes. Parents are asked to observe age groupings in order to give all children a fair chance in the search. The recreation department will be sponsoring a trip to Adventureland in Farmingdale for children in grades sixth through eighth. Children attending this trip must be residents of Garden City. The trip will take place on Wednesday, April 23. The recreation department's buses will leave the St. Paul's parking lot at 11 a.m. and arrive at Adventureland around noon. The children will enjoy hours of rides and attractions before returning to St. Paul's at approximately 4 p.m. The cost of this trip will be $15. Registration for this trip is ongoing at the recreation office in village hall. Payment is due at the time of registration in cash.Back by popular demand is the annual Women's Spring Tune-up for competitive and team tennis players. All residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City are welcome to participate in this program. The recreation department has divided this program into five sessions. Each session will include drills, point play, doubles strategy and tips to improve your overall tennis game. The cost of each session will be $60. Groups are encouraged and all efforts will be made to accommodate team grouping and/or ability level by court and session whenever possible. Please pick up an application for this program at either the recreation department at village hall or at the tennis hut at Community Park. The schedule of clinics is as follows: Session 1 Monday, April 28; Wednesday, April 30: 9 - 11 a.m. Session 2 Monday, April 28; Wednesday, April 30: noon - 2 p.m. Session 3 Tuesday, April 29; Thursday, May 1: 9 - 11 a.m. Session 4 Tuesday, April 29; Friday, May 2: noon - 2 p.m. Session 5 Friday, May 2 (mini clinic - $40) 9 - 11:30 a.m. The Garden City Recreation Department will conduct evening tennis lessons for adults who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City at the Community Park Tennis Facility. The lessons will run in three, four-week sessions for one hour each day. There will be a maximum of four players per court. The dates, times and fees will be as follows: Session I Meets Time Fee May 12 - June 9 Mon., Tues. 7-8 p.m. or $70 Wed. or Thurs. 8-9 p.m. Session II July 7 - July 31 Mon., Tues. 7-8 p.m. or $70 Wed. or Thurs. 8-9 p.m. Session III Aug. 4 - Aug. 28 Mon., Tues. 7-8 p.m. or $70 Wed. or Thurs. 8-9 p.m. * Weekend times are available upon request. We will also offer the popular ultimate workout program for adults on the following dates: Session I Ultimate Workout May 17, May 31 Saturday 10 - 11:30 a.m. $80 June 7 & June 14 Applications for these programs can be picked up at the recreation department or at the tennis hut at Community Park. An additional mini junior tennis session has been scheduled to continue the junior tennis program through the spring weeks ahead. The lessons will run in three two-week sessions, two one-hour lessons per week for a total of four lessons per session. The dates, times and fees will be as follows:
