With the spring sports seasons beginning, the recreation department would like residents to know that, although the recreation department allows the various volunteer organizations to use the village field space, it does not run any of the programs. Below is a list of program heads for each spring intramural sport; please call them with questions:

The recreation department's adult swim began at Adelphi University's indoor pool at Woodruff Hall. This free program is open to any adult 18 years or older who is a resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The pool is open Monday through Thursday at two sessions: 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
You must sign up each day you would like to swim by calling the recreation department at 465-4075. No reservations will be taken ahead of time. For further information; call the recreation office.
A new session of beginner lessons began on Thursday, April 3 at 12 p.m. For information or to register, call Steve Espey at 483-2525. There is a fee to join this program.
The recreation department will be hosting mixed doubles "Just for Fun" parties at Community Park. A platform party will be held Saturday, April 5 beginning at 7:30 p.m. The registration fee of $24 per couple includes court time, balls, food and refreshments. To register for either of these programs, call the Tennis Hut at 483-2525.
The recreation department is now accepting league application packages for upcoming men's spring softball league. Packages can be obtained from the recreation department in village hall. Rosters will be accepted from the first 16 teams meeting the following eligibility requirements:
Businesses located within Garden City.
Teams comprised of current residents of Garden City.
Teams comprised of current employees of Garden City.
The fee for this league will be $450, which covers the cost of umpires, fields, balls and trophies. Application packages will be accepted until 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 2 or until 16 valid packages are received. For further information, call the recreation department at 465-4075.
