Village Bids Farewell to Mayor Robert Lewis
With the village election over, village board members, department heads and residents bid a fond farewell to Mayor Robert Lewis last Thursday as he presided over his last trustees' meeting. Community members commended Lewis' 11 years of board participation, his last two as mayor of Garden City.

Lewis Passes Mayoral Torch to Barbara Miller
When the Central Property Owner's Association's (CPOA) Nominating Committee unanimously selected Barbara Miller for the position of mayor, it was the first committee to ever bring forth a woman candidate for the position. Miller earned 107 votes during the March 18 election and said she's "confident" she'll do a good job serving Garden City in this capacity.

Garden City Basketball Player Strikes Opponent on Court
According to William J. Kilfoil, chief of police for the Port Washington Police District, on Feb. 13 an incident took place during a girls varsity basketball game between Port Washington and Garden City at the Paul D. Schreiber High School gym in Port Washington.

2003 Thunder Football Registration
Open registration for the 2003 Thunder Football (ages 7, 8, 9, 10, 11,12 as of 11/30/02) ends May 3. Applications postmarked after May 3 will require an additional $25 to the applicable league fee and will be accepted on the condition that if no position is available in the correct division, your application will be rejected and all registration fees returned.
