Thank you to everyone who donated food, money or time to make our Thanksgiving project such a success. Through your gifts, 162 homebound senior citizens were able to receive a full Thanksgiving dinner, delivered to their door on Thanksgiving afternoon!
While unable to thank everyone by name, we would like to thank some of the groups whose help proved invaluable. We are grateful to the Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club, the Kiwanis Club of Mineola, the Woman's Club of Garden City, the Rotary Club of Williston Park, the Garden City Homemakers Council, the staff and teachers of Hemlock School and the staff of the St. James Restaurant for their generous contributions; to the students of Hemlock, Stewart, Garden City Middle School and Girl Scouts who provided the cards, letters and artwork included with each meal; the students in the Culture and Foods Class of the Garden City High School for their delicious breads; the Youth Group of the Garden City Jewish Center, Cub Pack 7 and Girl Scouts from Garden City and East Williston for their donations; and the parishioners of St. Joseph's Church for their contributions and offers of help.
To those individuals not named, we wish to say that your help in cooking, packing and distributing the meals is very gratefully acknowledged. Thank you all very much.
Thanksgiving is a holiday that is all about family and friends and sharing our good fortune with those who need it. Once again, the generosity of the local community enabled us to continue a wonderful holiday tradition. Thank you one and all. Happy Holidays!
