The Garden City Thunder 10-Year-Old Football Team has just won their fourth straight game, defeating Franklin Square 21-6 at home. This puts their record at 4-1 in League play and 5-1 overall.
The six points given up to Franklin Square were the first points allowed by the defense in three games. The defense, anchored by Bill Sweeney, Will Hopkins, Alex Castranova, John Bock, Marc Montesdeoca, Dan Sprotte, Thomas Mangels, Kyle Minerva, Ryan Castro, Drew Delannoy, Glen McKenna, Andrew Palmeri, Connor Cortese, Brian Gillespie, Scott Stein and Scott Connetta, has yielded only 32 points in six games.
The offensive squad has also performed very well, having scored 108 points over six games. The offense is led by Joseph Truzzolino, Mike Jones, Sam Walsh, Mike Kelly, James Dean, James Wright, Joe Gentile, Dan Losardo, Chris Imperio, James Moore, Kyle Hughes and Michael Moonan.
The 10-year-old football team attributes much of its success to its "team" approach to the game, all members working hard and contributing during the games.
