Perry P. Griffith, MD, died on Oct. 21, 2002. Loving husband of Rosemary. Devoted father of Diane and Kevin Collins, Perry and Patti Griffith, Rosemary and Thomas McLaughlin, Thomas and Stacey Griffith, MaryLou and Jim Dupre, James and Suzanne Griffith, Robert and Tara Griffith, Joseph and Pam Griffith, John and Michele Griffith, Suzanne Griffith and fiancé Timothy McAndrews. Cherished grandfather of 18. Beloved brother of Katherine Sillery.

Perry was a graduate of Brooklyn Prep High School, Class of 1948 and the College of Holy Cross, Class of 1952. He received his medical degree from McGill University in 1956 and interned at St. Vincent's Hospital in NYC from 1956 to 1957. He served as a lieutenant in the US Navy as a medical doctor from 1957 to 1959. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Bellevue Medical Center in NYC in 1962. He established his private practice where he made his home in Garden City.

Perry was a member of the NC Medical Society, NYS Medical Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, LI Ophthalmological Society, NC Surgical Society and NC Academy of Medicine. He also worked on the staffs of Mercy Hospital, Nassau Hospital and the NC Medical Center.

Perry was very active in St. Joseph's Parish, local youth athletics, the Garden City Men's Association and was a past president of the Kiwanis Club. He was a joy to all who knew him.

Arrangements were made by the N.F. Walker Funeral Home, Queens. A funeral Mass was held at St. Joseph's Church on Oct. 25. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
