The recreation department began running their popular summer Chess Club Tuesday, July 16 at the Garden City Library's small meeting room from 4 to 6 p.m. This program will run every Tuesday through Aug. 27. The Chess Club is free and open to children in third through eighth grade who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. Paul Dooher will again moderate this program. The recreation department has revised the Adult Summer Tennis Lesson program. This program is open to any residents of the village, 18 years or older. The cost of this program will be $90 per session. To provide more flexible scheduling of program offerings, classes will run on the following dates and times:

Mondays

Session II - Aug. 19, 26, 8:30-10 p.m. - Learn and Play for novice, intermediate and advanced.

Tuesdays

Session II - Aug. 20, 27, 8:30-10 p.m. - Beginners only - Learn & Play.

Wednesdays

Session II - Aug. 21, 28, 8:30-10 p.m. - Learn & Play for novice, intermediate and advanced.

Thursdays

Session II - Aug. 15, 22, 29, 8:30-10 p.m. - Learn and Play for novice, intermediate and advanced.

To register for any of these sessions, please come to the recreation department in village hall.
