Board Approves Field Closing
The Village Board of Trustees unanimously approved the Recreation Commission's recommendation to close the fields at St. Paul's for the fall 2002 and spring 2003 seasons. Trustee Jon Segerdahl, who was away on vacation July 18 but was aware the board was voting on the issue, sent his approval via e-mail in which Trustee Barbara Miller read to the public. It stated he was in full favor of the commission's recommendation and hoped his fellow trustees would be the same.
Private Parking Lot Proposed for 116 Eleventh Street
Garden City Center Associates, care of the Albanese Organizations, propose that 116 Eleventh Street be converted from its current residential use into private supplemental parking to serve the commercial community along the west side of Franklin Avenue between Tenth and Eleventh Streets.
Calling All GC Residents, Businesses Up for a 'Challenge'
Garden City residents and employees of businesses there are invited to join corporate executives across Long Island who are preparing now for their annual rite of summer. The 3.5-mile JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge (open to runners, walkers and joggers) will celebrate its 17th running at Jones Beach on Tuesday, July 30 at 7:00 p.m. In a new wrinkle this year, New York Islanders great and recent Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Clark Gillies will be on hand to start the race, which begins and ends at Parking Field 5, near the intersection of Wantagh Parkway and Ocean Drive.

A drama workshop will be held in August for children aged 11 - 13 who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. Maureen Bevin O'Gara has come up with a great program for children who are interested in learning about acting, sets, staging and other techniques involving theatre. The workshop will run Monday through Friday for two weeks beginning the week of Aug. 12 according to the following schedule:
