The Nominating Committee of the Central Property Owners Association (CPOA) was distressed by the published comments made in the Garden City News on June 28 that questioned the ethics of Trustee Barbara Miller.

The Nominating Committee of the CPOA, who brought forth Barbara Miller twice as candidate for trustee strongly refutes any question of her ethics and knows her to be an ethical person of high moral character. She has demonstrated this behavior throughout her tenure in various elected public positions over the past seven years, which have included chair of the CPOA Nominating Committee, president of the CPOA for three years and currently as village trustee for the past two years.

Barbara Miller, during this entire period of public office has been fair and upheld established standards related to each role. When president of the CPOA, as a member of the Joint Conference Committee she helped establish guidelines for the implementation of that committee's role in relation to village government. For the past two years she has chaired the village's Ethics Committee. In addition, as she did in previous CPOA positions, as trustee she disclosed where she lived in central and was apprised by village council that as long as she disclosed any relationship to a matter she was able to vote on that matter.

The Nominating Committee hopes that those who object to the wishes of the residents of the central section will use the proper channels of the village government rather than vilifying Trustee Miller or any other trustee.
