District Reviews Current Kindergarten Program
The Garden City School District is planning a review of its current kindergarten program to see if a full-day schedule would be more beneficial for students. Many concerned parents, along with their younger children, attended a meeting Wednesday, June 19 to voice their opinions.

Victim Shot in Ankle at Roosevelt Field Mall
At approximately 7:30 p.m. June 20, local shoppers at Roosevelt Field Mall ran for cover as shots were fired near the second floor food court. According to Detective John LaVelle of Nassau County's 3rd Squad, Maurice Burkes, 29, of Hempstead allegedly verbally confronted an 18-year-old male from Lynbrook and two of his friends as the 18-year-old talked to a relative on his cell phone.

Registration deadline for boys fall intramural soccer has been extended until June 30. Play is for those boys who will be in kindergarten through sixth grades in the fall.

Recreation Department News
The recreation department is happy to announce the beginning of its registration for both boys and girls lacrosse camp for children who are residents of the village. This camp will be held on the fields at St. Paul's the week of July 8-11 and July 15-18. A child can sign up for either or both weeks. All equipment will be provided.
