The Garden City Board of Trustees approved a motion to proceed on the erection of a village memorial for village residents lost at the World Trade Center Sept. 11. The memorial will be located on village property on Seventh Street, north of the Long Island Rail Road and will consist of a flagpole, granite benches, bronze markers, a paved walkway and landscaping for approximately $20,000. The recreation dept. will run a summer tennis camp for children aged 7 years and up and who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. This camp will be held at the Community Park Tennis Facility. The sessions will run according to the following age groups: 7 and 8 years, 9 through 11 years and 12 years or older. The age of the child at the start of the session will determine which session the child may attend. This instructional program will be conducted in two-hour sessions.
